My name is Carla Black and I am a Registered Midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a member of the Plum Midwifery team. As midwives, we are uniquely positioned to help support clients in clinic, home and hospital settings. If you are not in Plum Midwifery care and are interested in either prenatal or postpartum lactation support services, then please ask your care provider to complete a referral form. With a referral, my services are covered by MSP up to 6 weeks postpartum. If you are a current Plum Midwifery client, contact the office if you would like some specialized support.

About me:

I am passionate about supporting new parents with their feeding journey. As a mother of two, I have lived experience with navigating the emotional and physical journey of feeding a new infant, especially when maternal fatigue is combined with an infant with oral restrictions such as a tongue tie. As part of my midwifery training I certified as a lactation consultant and spent time training at the International Breastfeeding Centre in Toronto. My approach is family centred and flexible to your unique needs and wishes. I have been supporting families to find success in their feeding journeys since 2013.

My services:

My visits can either take place on the phone or in person at either the Plum Midwifery clinic in Tin Town or at your home, depending on your needs and my availability. I will contact you by phone or e-mail once your referral is received by Plum Midwifery within 1-2 business days.
